An Introduction to Delivering Successful Intervention Groups - Birmingham
Friday, 26 February 2016 from 12:30 to 15:30 (GMT)
Teaching Assistant Conference - Birmingham
An introduction to delivering successful intervention sessions
We're excited to be able to confirm the content of this year's TA conferences. We've chosen this to reflect the recommended deployment of TAs within schools and ensure that all our TAs are well equipped to deal with their changing roles.
Who is this workshop for?
This workshop is aimed at teaching assistants and other support staff who are currently devlivering intervention sessions. It is also useful for anyone looking to develop their career and work with intervention groups in the future.
What is it about?
This workshop is designed to equip teaching assistants with the skills they need to deliver successful intervention groups. The topics covered include: Interpretting planning, managing small groups, effectively reporting progress and giving feedback.
The workshop will provide useful methodology designed to be taken away and used to develop successful interventions within the school.
Why is this important?
As part of current reseach from the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF), "teaching assistants should be used to deliver high-quality one-to-one and small group support using structured interventions". It is also recommended that schools "adopt evidence-based interventions to support TAs in their small group and one-to-one instruction". (Making Best Use of Teaching Assistants, EEF - March 2015)
