Description

Subject? - This workshop will introduce people interested in supervising students registered on the distance learning programme in public health for their masters dissertation in public health (MPH) or research (MRES).

How long? - It usually lasts 1.5 to 2 hours, and flexible in its' content and delivery.

What's it like? - Along with some core learning objectives, there is usually discussion about different aspects of supervising masters students, but the focus in on aspects associated with this online programme.

What does it cover? -

- a background to the format and content of the MPH and MRES

- a general introduction to the dissertation process

- developing your approach to supervision

- what is expected of supervisors and their students

- opportunities and challenges for working with virtual students

- overview of further guidance and support.

Who can attend? - anyone who is eligible (i.e. usually has a PhD, or close to completing, in a health-related discipline, who is interested in becoming a supervisor on this programme). Please contact Roger if you're not sure.
