Event description

Description

The North West branch of the BPS Division of Counselling Psychology presents a CPD workshop on 'An Introduction to EMDR and complex trauma'. Please note, this event is open to everybody.

Given the increasing prevalence of EMDR in health care settings as well as the continual impact of complex trauma on people's well being, this event aims to provide attendees with an introduction and discussion of these two key topics.

We have two fantastic speakers lined up:

In the morning, Cath Kerr will present an overview of EMDR including its development, aims and evidence base. This presentation will summarise the basic assumptions of EMDR and offer an introduction to the eight phase protocol. It will also cover EMDR case conceptualisation and help you to consider how it may integrate with your current practice. Additionally, it will also look at the EMDR training requirements with a view to working towards accreditation as an Europe EMDR Approved practitioner.

In the afternoon Dr Jill Brennan will talk about complex trauma from a humanistic perspective, integrating this with EMDR and her own approach which she has developed over 20 years of practice.

CPD certificates will be available. Places are limited to 40 attendees.

Registration is 09.30 - event will begin a 10.00. Please note, lunch is not provided.
