Event description


This course will focus on the role of the Executive Head Teacher, offering practical advice on how Head Teachers can formulate a long-term plan to up-skill in preparation for this change in focus and career. You will reflect on how the role of Executive Head Teacher differs from the role of Head Teacher in a single school and consider how to form an efficient and financially viable multi-academy trust. This course will also consider multiple school business planning, teaching and support staff structures, and governance. Delegates will have the opportunity to consider how they will develop their existing skills into system leadership skills.

During this course, you will be able to:

  • Evaluate the difference between the role of Head Teacher and Executive Head Teacher.
  • Discuss the business, staffing and governance structures within a multi-academy trust.
  • Assess why and how creative workforce deployment across several schools can support schools to achieve improved outcomes and financial viability.
  • Develop a clear understanding of the senior leadership skills required to develop a system leadership structure.
  • Develop a clearer understanding of best practice senior leadership, teaching staff and support staff deployment across a multi-academy trust.

Pre-course preparation
Delegates should bring with them copies of their current structure for leadership, teaching staff and support staff

Do I need my membership number to book?

Yes. If you are booking a member place you will be required to enter the correct membership number. You can find your membership number by phoning membership on 0300 3030333 option 2.

Is my booking transferrable?

Bookings may only be transferred at the discretion of the Professional Development team. These will need to be made in writing to events@naht.org.uk before the event. Transfers and cancellations may be subject to a charge.

Cancellation fees:

Within 20 working days - 25% charge

Within 10 working days - 50% charge

Within 5 working days - 75% charge

Within 2 working days - 100% charge

Can I update my registration information?

Any updates to your booking must be made in writing to the Professional Development team at events@naht.org.uk

Does the name on the booking need to match the attendee?

The names of each individual attendee must be entered during the booking process along with a unique email address for each attendee as this will be used for the final confirmation.
