In the Autumn the woodlands of Sussex contain an incredible diversity of amazing fungi in an array of sizes, shapes and colours. But with thousands of species in Sussex alone, where do you start when it comes to accurately identifying them?

Fungi expert Martin Allison will give you the perfect opportunity to learn all about fungi on this one-day course aimed at beginners.

You will spend the day searching for fungi at Ebernoe Common Sussex Wildlife Trust Nature Reserve.

During the morning we will explore the wide range of woodland fungi that can be found at this site which is famous for its fungal diversity.

We will return to the car park for lunch where we will use identification guides to help us to identify some specimens collected during the morning, before heading back into another part of the woodland where we will attempt to put our new found knowledge to the test!

Meeting Point: Ebernoe Common nature reserve next to the church. Nearest Postcode: GU28 9LD . The church and car park can be found at the end of the lane opposite the red telephone box.

What to bring: Please wear appropriate outdoor clothing and footwear for walking on possibly muddy paths. Notebooks / pencils / field guides. Packed lunch and drink. A hand lens will be useful.

Facilities: Please note we will be outdoors for the whole course. There are no toilets available at Ebernoe Common or The Mens. Nearest public toilets are Rosemary Gardens, Petworth GU28 0AP. Map link below

If our standard priced tickets are simply out of reach at the moment, you can opt for our open concession ticket. This is available to all with no questions asked.

Participants must be at least 14 years old to attend an adult course or event. Young people, aged 14-17, must be accompanied by a paying adult aged 18 or over.
