Event description

Description

This study day, based at the West Stow Anglo-Saxon village, provides a practical introduction to the methods and techniques used to record the fabric, fixtures and fittings of historic buildings. Following a class-based introduction to the subject, the rest of the day will be spent getting hands-on practice recording the reconstructed buildings in the Anglo-Saxon village itself. These buildings are actually an archaeological experiment testing different ideas about how the Anglo-Saxons built their houses, as part of which they are recorded at regular intervals, so the session also forms an important part of the on-going work at the village too.

The session is free and is being run as part of the Breaking New Ground Project.
