An Introduction to Islamic Geometric Design, by Eric Broug
Mon 23 January 2017, 19:00 – 21:00 AST
Islamic geometric compositions do not easily reveal how they are made; the outcome is visible but not the creative process that led to it. Patterns that appear in buildings, ceramic tiles, quran pages all have a story to tell. In this presentation, Eric Broug will examine the creative process of Islamic geometric design from a craftsman’s point of view.
Using images of some of the greatest masterpieces of Islamic art and architecture, he will give an insight into the basic principles of this design tradition.
Suitable for all ages.
