  • Dates: Enrolment and meet the tutor Monday 10 February betweeen 10.30am -12.30pm. Course starts Monday 24 February and runs alternate weeks until 4 May.
  • Sessions: Alternate Mondays, 10.30am - 12.30pm at Nottingham Central Library

Mindfulness is proven to help with stress, anxiety, unhappiness and depression. This is a gentle introductory course for those with little, or no knowledge about mindfulness. We will learn about the basic principles of mindfulness, including how to use it in our everyday lives.

All learning will take place in a supportive, encouraging environment, with highly experienced tutor Lydia Weston. Lydia teaches and lectures in Counselling and Mindfulness at Central College, Nottingham. Lydia's passion is to help others learn how to empower their own wellbeing by using mindfulness in their everyday lives.

This short course is an ideal way to learn, be inspired and make new friends.

Note: This course is not suitable for anyone experiencing extreme psychological distress.


*Who is eligible to attend this free course?

Nottingham City residents who meet the following criteria are entitled to our course free of charge if they are:

  • 19 +
  • Unemployed and in receipt of benefits, job seeking or working and earning below £16,009 annual gross salary
  • Have lived in the UK or an EU country continuously for the last three years on the first day of their intended course

Learners who haven’t lived in the UK or EU for the required three years are eligible if they meet the criteria above and have one of the following:

  • Refugee status
  • Humanitarian Protection
  • Indefinite Leave to enter/remain
  • Leave to enter to accompany a spouse

You will be asked to provide evidence of residency in the form of visa and relevant home office documents later in the enrolment process.

This criteria is set by the Education Skills Funding Agency (ESFA).


If you do not meet the eligilbity criteria but would still like to attend the course then you can choose to pay a course fee of £40 - payable in whole prior to beginning. To find out more about paying for this course contact Jasmin Laing on jasmin.laing@nottinghamcity.gov.uk who can advise if any paying places are available.
