Join the Starling team to get to grips with the basics of 'neurodiversity'.

Neurodiversity is a term that refers to the diversity of human minds. It is estimated that between 1 in 4 and 1 in 7 people are neurodivergent in the UK. Neurodivergent refers to an individual whose brain functions significantly differently to what society deems as 'normal.'

This 2.5 hour training via Zoom will cover:

- Definitions: neurodiversity, neurodiverse, neurotypical/neuronormative, neurodivergence, neurodivergent - what do these words mean and when/how do you use them?

- Approaches to neuro-inclusivity: the senses/sensitivities, executive functioning and communication methods.

- Harnessing neurodivergent super skills: building awareness, acceptance and celebration of neurodiversity in your work/workplace.

- Useful resources: further reading, organisations and individuals celebrating neurodiversity, and future training opportunities.

Starling are a Greater Manchester based charity working to increase awareness, acceptance and celebration of neurodiversity in society.

Starling run creative projects for neurodivergent young people across Greater Manchester and deliver training/consultancy to organisations around neuro-inclusivity and celebrating neurodiversity in a range of workplaces/sectors.

Training will be run by the Founder and Director of Starling, Katie Charlton. Katie has 15 years of experience working with neurodivergent individuals and communities and has lived experience of neurodivergence.

A note on our training:

- We deliver our work in an interactive way, but we don't mind if you just watch, wander off, turn your camera/microphone off, take part a little bit or a lot.

- We will be happy to provide training materials in advance if that is helpful.

- We will be able to provide a recording of the training to attendees after the training takes place.

- We will provide copies of our slides and training content after the after the training takes place.

- If you need any adaptations or if you have any requests that would help you access the training, we would love to hear from you so we can have you involved.

If you have any questions, queries or feedback on how we can make our training more accessible, please feel free to get in touch via email:
