An introduction to OPG
Overview
The Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) is delighted to welcome you to a three-part webinar series, which aims to strengthen your knowledge and understanding of our services.
The first webinar in the series will take place from 12.30 - 13.30 on 5 March 2026. Join us to learn about:
- OPG's role and responsibilities under the Mental Capacity Act 2005
- Lasting powers of attorney (LPAs): what they are, why they're important, when and how to make one
- Deputies: what they are, when they're required and the role of the Court of Protection in appointing deputies.
You'll have a chance to hear from the Public Guardian about the importance of our work in empowering people to plan ahead for a time when they are no longer able to make decisions for themselves. We'll also discuss the vital role of health and social care professionals in starting conversations or sharing information about LPAs and deputyship orders with patients, service users and their loved ones.
There will be an opportunity to ask questions after the presentation.
If you'd like to submit a question in advance, you can do this here .
If you're unable to attend the webinar but would like to receive the slides or any other relevant content from OPG, share your details with us here.
