Tutor: Mike Russell

2-Part Course

Online Zoom: Tuesday, 14th October 7pm-8pm

Field Session: Wednesday 15th October 9.30am-1.30pm

This course looks at the variety of birds of prey regularly recorded in the UK, concentrating on those that you might see in Sussex. We will learn all about these incredible hunters and how to identify them during an evening zoom session.

For the morning field session we will visit sights with beautiful open views, where we hope to see a variety of raptors such as Common Buzzard, Red Kite, Kestrel, Sparrowhawk and Peregrine. There may also be some surprises!

During the field trips there will be the opportunity to look out for other bird species as well.

No previous knowledge of raptors needed, just a general interest in birds.

Mike Russell spent over 30 years working for Sussex Wildlife Trust. He has organised and lead thousands of wildlife events, from dawn choruses to late night excursions to see the nightjars, using his extensive knowledge and expertise.
