Overview

Jump in online to learn the basics of running Hackcessible and make hacking events welcoming for all!

Hackcessible is an annual Assistive Technology innovation competition that brings interdisciplinary teams of students together, collaborating with disabled individuals to solve their specific challenges through innovative technology.

Having started at The University Of Sheffield in 2018, this year, it attracted over 150 students, with around 100 selected to work across 12 unique challenges. Having seen the success of Hackcessible both as a platform for assistive technology innovation and as a hugely impactful educational experience for our students, we wanted to share the opportunity with other universities across the UK and beyond, to see whether it was something that might be of benefit to your students.

You will hear from Hackcessible co-founders Dr Pete Mylon, a teacher of Engineering Design at the University of Sheffield, and Aejaz Zahid, assistive technology consultant, about how they started Hackcessible and how they can support you to run a make-a-thon or even a single project at your institution.
