This CACHE endorsed Laser short course explores safeguarding and its importance in a childcare setting.
About this event
This online course provides 6-10 hours of learning, During this course you will learn about types and possible signs of abuse, policies and procedures for reporting concerns, whistleblowing, and explore the document ‘What to do if you are worried a child is being abused’ (DfE). The course is intended for learners working in nursery settings, or with school-aged children and young people.
In this course, learners will be given a general introduction to the concept of safeguarding and its importance in a childcare setting.
- Learn when to be concerned – what is abuse and the possible signs of abuse, understanding the setting policy for reporting concerns, and whistleblowing.
- Explore the document ‘What to do if you are worried a child is being abused’ by the Department for Education.
The course is intended for learners working in nursery settings, or with school-aged children and young people.
Learning outcomes
You will learn
- about basic issues relating to safeguarding that can cause settings to be judged as ‘inadequate’ by inspectors
- the aspects of running a setting that needs to be focused on and promote safeguarding
- why having a basic understanding of safeguarding is one of the first things you should study when working with children and young people
