About this event

This four week course looks at the basics of screenplays, how to develop existing or to generate new ideas, how to structure ideas and how to format and pitch ideas.

The course will be exercise-based, with lots of opportunity to write and share ideas.

You will be encouraged to think carefully about scenes, about structure, and about dialogue. You will look at how stories work, how to generate an 'inciting incident', how to deepen the story and how to foreshadow and tie loose ends together.

We will look at screenplays from films and will watch some short clips to help with understanding and discussion. The course will be run in a friendly, open and interactive way.

No experience is necessary, just an enthusiasm for writing, for film and for experimentation.

About Anthony Cropper...

Anthony has written for stage, radio and screen. He has published two novels, a collection of short stories and his radio play won the BBC Alfred Bradley Award for drama. His latest book, The Accidental Memoir, is published by Harper Collins. Anthony is a senior lecturer in creative writing at Nottingham Trent University, where he teaches on the MA and the undergraduate degrees.
