Event description

Description

This session is aimed at policy officials who are either new to statutory instruments or who would benefit from a refresher. It will give you an introduction to what an SI is and how you work with your lawyers to make one. By the end of this workshop you will have a better understanding of:
  • What an SI is, what it can and cannot do;
  • The timetables from drafting policy instructions to laying the final Instrument before Parliament;
  • How to draft instructions for an SI and the level of detail required;
  • How to get the best from your lawyers;
This course NOT intended to give you:
  • A detailed understanding of Parliamentary procedure – which can be highly technical (and is covered in a different session).
