Description

A brief introduction to the development and current status of China's high-speed rail

6.00pm for 6:30pm start.
Thursday 14 March 2019

Winchester Guildhall, Wintonian Suite
The Broadway, Winchester SO23 9GH

Ms. Ling Zhang, Senior Lecturer at the Engineering Research Centre of Railway Environment Vibration and Noise (East China Jiaotong University).

The history of China’s high-speed rail only started 10 years ago when its first high speed rail line (Beijing-Tianjin inter-city railway, 350 km) was opened in 2008. However rapid development has been carried out since. By 2018, the total length of the high-speed rail in China has exceeded 25,000 km, which counts more than 60% of the total high-speed rail track length in the world. The high speed rail has the advantages of low air pollution, low energy consumption, high land use efficiency and high level safety, which have benefited both China’s economy and environment significantly.

Based on the research work conducted at the Engineering Research Centre of Railway Environment Vibration and Noise (East China Jiaotong University), this talk will give a brief introduction of the development and current status of China’s high-speed rail, in the aspects of high-speed rail network planning, high-speed rail system integration, new track technology and the control of high-speed rail induced noise and vibration.

Ms. Ling Zhang is a senior lecturer at the Engineering Research Centre of Railway Environment Vibration and Noise (East China Jiaotong University). Her main research interest focuses on the mechanism and control of vibration inside the high-speed rail transport hub.

Advance registration for this event is required and we expect this event to be full. If you register but later realise that you cannot make it, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can offer the place to someone else. Registration will close 48 hours before the event and CPD certification is offered for attendance.
