An Introduction to the EYFS Profile

Lewisham Early Years Improvement Team

Target Audience:

 All practitioners responsible for completing the EYFS profile i.e.: All those working with ‘Reception aged’ children, (children who will be five years old before 31st August 2018) who have not previously received training on the process of assessment in EYFS. This session would also be useful for TAs, Year 1 teachers, assessment co-ordinators, EYFS Leaders, Headteachers and anyone else who would like to find out more about the EYFS profile.

IT IS IMPORTANT THAT SCHOOLS SEND NQTS AS THE EYFS PROFILE IS NOT COVERED IN DETAIL ON LEWISHAM’S NQT TRAINING PROGRAMME.

The EYFS profile remains statutory until 2018.

This session will

  • Give key messages about the EYFS Profile and the statutory assessment proces
  • Provide opportunities for practitioners to become familiar with the EYFS profile handbook and exemplification materials
  • Give an overview of and clarify the moderation process

IT IS IMPORTANT THAT SCHOOLS SEND ANY RECEPTION TEACHERS WHO HAVE NOT PREVIOUSLY RECEIVED TRAINING ON THE REVISED EYFS PROFILE ON THIS SESSION. THIS INCLUDES NQTS AS THE EYFS PROFILE IS NOT COVERED IN DETAIL ON LEWISHAM’S NQT TRAINING PROGRAMME.

STEEP- the South Thames Early Education Partnership;

Six South London, Nursery Schools and Children’s Centres, with a long history working with children and families.

We believe every child deserves the best possible start in life and support to fulfill their potential. A child’s experience in the early years has a major impact on their future life chances. A secure, safe and happy childhood is important in its own right, and provides the foundation for children to make the most of their own abilities and talents as they grow.

STEEP's mission is to support those working with young children and their families through the provision of a range of high quality professional development opportunities including:
  • Support and Training for Childminders,
  • Initial Teacher Education,
  • CPD for Early Years professionals in schools and settings.
