Description

This session is the first in the series of NEC4 Masterclasses. These half day sessions will cover all major aspects of the NEC4 in Northern Ireland, dealing with understanding risk associated with each different Main and Secondary Option form, the payment regime under NEC4 contracts, a specific session dedicated to the NEC3 EC Short Contract, Time and Programming, Change Management (including the Early Warning mechanism) and Quality Assurance.

This session is an introduction to the NEC4 form of Contract, and will address the following topics:

  • What has changed? NEC3 to NEC4 – Evolution not Revolution
  • Why do we use the NEC4?
  • Understanding the Main ECC Options – A – E
  • Risk profile in tendering
  • Secondary Options - what to look out for

The session will be very interactive, with a dedicated Q&A session at the end.

Speaker

David McNeice, LLB, LLM, AMICE, ACIArb, Solicitor

David McNeice is a solicitor and Senior Associate heading up DWF's Construction and Infrastructure team in Ireland. He has extensive experience dedicated specifically to working in the construction and engineering sector throughout the UK and Ireland. David has worked with some of the UK and Ireland’s largest public authorities, contractors and sub-contractors, as well as advising all members of the supply chain on NEC, FIDIC, IChemE, ICC (ICE) and JCT projects.

David is regularly invited to give guest talks and public seminars on the both the JCT and NEC and best practice to various institutions, including the Institution of Civil Engineers, the Chartered Institution of Builders, the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors and the Institute of Engineers Ireland. David is also the Convenor of the Adjudication Society for Ireland. He is an Associate Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (AMICE).
