About this event

Image: Ploughing (Georges Seurat (1883)

The course shows students how to see tone in relation to the light source and to other objects in the set up. We will measure tones using ‘through the eyelash’ vision and seek to compare one surface with another. We will use lines only to set the positions of the objects, not as an end point in itself.

This course with local artist Rachel Sutherland is in two 2-hour parts. It is suitable for complete beginners or more experienced students. There are 11 places available.

Materials to bring:

Pencils 2H, H, HB, 2B, 4B, 6B

Charcoal - willow and compressed

Chalk - white

Piece of string

Putty rubber

Hard eraser

Drawing paper, cartridge, sketch book.

12” ruler as a measuring stick. I will have a geometry set and extra transparent rulers.
