About this event

The present working environment has fundamentally changed the ways in which we approach our roles in academia. Information and training around teaching effectively from home has been of paramount importance, but many tools to support research may remain unfamiliar.

In this introductory session, we will hear from three researchers at the University of Westminster about their experiences with highly useful tools and how you might incorporate them into your work.

- Luis Delgado will introduce us to remote tools for research proposal and execution management, for instance Atlassian Confluence.

- James Morgan will take us through the pros and cons of some virtual meeting tools specifically for research workshops or webinars and consider how to best make use of polling at virtual or hybrid events.

- Gerald Gurtner will then outline the uses and importance of VPN and remote/cloud database access for research.

This session will enable you to:

- Better understand the types of tools and technologies specifically aimed at supporting researchers.

- Identify areas of your work where certain tools and technologies could be useful.

- Identify tools or technologies that you may need further support with, or training on.

Organised by Andrew Cook and the Research and Knowledge Exchange Office, this workshop will take place on MS Teams and is intended for staff at the University of Westminster only. A link to the meeting will be sent out in due course.
