An introduction to working with children who can speak but don't: selective...
Fri 26 May 2017, 09:30 – 15:00 BST
- This introductory one-day course provides an overview of the nature, causes, diagnosis and assessment of selective mutism (SM)based on the work of Maggie Johnson and Alison Wintgens.
- You'll also learn how to use informal management strategies.
- When applied consistently within family and educational settings, these techniques will enable some children to fully overcome their difficulty talking, while laying a firm foundation for more formal small-steps intervention programmes if indicated.
This course is run by Libby Hill from Small Talk Speech and Language Therapy and Natasha Dale who both have extensive experience of SM
