About this event

The course is intended to provide radiation safety and legislative training for registered healthcare professionals (Band 5 and above) who wish to refer patients for X-rays under the Ionising Radiations (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2017.

Please Note - Attendance on the course does not automatically give a health professional the right to request X-rays. Local procedures should be in place to ensure health professionals have suitable professional qualifications and training. Contact your local X-ray department for more information as to exact requirements.

Course Content Includes: Basic Radiation Physics, Biological Effects of Radiation, IRR and IR(ME)R Legislation, Referral Guidelines, Duty Holders and Request justification, Pregnancy and Potential Pregnancy, Incidents, Patient Dose and Risk.

This course will be delivered online via Microsoft Teams. An email with the instructions for how to access the online content will be sent 24-48 before the course start time. You must have a webcam and microphone to enable appropriate participation and for your attendance to be verified.
