Event description

Description

Join us at our next Anaesthesia Lates, on the evening of Friday 18 May 2018 at the Heritage Centre in Central London.

To coincide with new Brave Faces exhibition, May’s Anaesthesia Lates explores the World War II advances in facial reconstruction made by Archibald McIndoe, maverick plastic surgeon at the Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead. The world-famous ‘Guinea Pig Club’ was formed and became a social and mutual support network for British and Allied aircrew injured during WWII.

We welcome back Dr Emily Mayhew, author and military medical historian who will be talking about the ‘Club’s’ enduring legacy and the inspiring member stories. Dr Mayhew will also be signing copies of her forthcoming book The Reconstruction of Warriors: Archibald McIndoe, the Royal Airforce and Guinea Pig Club, London.

Tickets are just £15 (concessions for students) and include a drink and canapés reception, as well as a private viewing of the Heritage Centre’s new exhibition Brave Faces.

Anaesthesia Lates takes place at the Association of Anaesthetists’ headquarters in London (21 Portland Place, W1B 1PY).
