Ancoats Cycle Tour
Sat 10 September 2016, 10:00 – 12:00 BST
As part of the Through the Mill community festival in Ancoats, Emma Fox and Kate Dibble of Manchester Guided Tours will lead a leisurely cycle tour through the streets and waterways of the world's first industrial suburb, now an area bubbling with creativity and change.
You'll hear fascinating stories of street fighting scuttlers, squalid slums, Italian and Irish immigration, Manchester Art Museum and its philanthropic founder Thomas Horsefall, new independant businesses, Cottonfields park & marina, the Dispensary, a theatre, an orchestra, street art, the mills, cotton & coffee and more.
Bring your own bike to Halle St Peter's for a 10:00 start on Saturday September 10th. The tour will take around two hours. No need to be an expert and don't worry about fitness, this will be a slow, fun ride along mostly side streets and canal tow paths. The tour will also end at Halle St Peter's.
If you need to hire a bike go to Manchester Bike Hire
Emma and Kate are fully insured, professional tourist guides, accredited by the Institute of Tourist Guiding and qualified ride leaders.
