We are delighted to announce that Andrew Wolstenholme OBE FREng BSc CEng FICE FRICS, and CEO of Crossrail, will be joining us on Tuesday 17th February to give a distinguished lecture entitled "Moving the Construction Industry Forward".

Why is engineering a great first degree? Why is the sector at a crossroads? How can you be part of a digital revolution in the world of infrastructure?

Andrew will speak about the journey from being a Southampton engineering graduate to CEO of Europe's largest construction project - Crossrail. As a client, a contractor and a consultant, he has worked on and led projects across Asia, the USA and UK - from a brewery in Hong Kong, the new Terminal 5 at Heathrow to the £15bn railway being constructed under central London today.

Andrew will share some of his lessons learned and experiences gained from leading teams in the Army and the construction industry.

Andrew graduated from the University of Southampton in 1981 with a first class honours degree in Civil Engineering. He served with the British Army for three years as a Queen's Royal Irish Hussar before resigning his commission in 1984 to pursue a career in business and engineering; in 2009, he was awarded an OBE for services to the construction industry.

Andrew joined Crossrail in 2011 as its Chief Executive Officer, and in July 2014, he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Southampton. Andrew is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineers, the Institution of Civil Engineers, and the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.

The lecture will start at 18.00 with refreshments served beforehand from 17.30. Tickets will be required for this event.
