The role of the modern assistant has changed dramatically over the last 30 years and technology has played a significant role in this metamorphosis. Far from making the assistant redundant as many people imagined, it has made us more indispensable than ever. Assistants are now critical in managing electronic communication and the floods of information hitting management daily.
Time has become the ultimate luxury in the modern world and as assistants we can add great value by maximising our manager’s time by efficient scheduling, assisting with routine tasks and managing their teams and workflow when they are not available. The PA 2.0 also functions as a sturdy pair of hands and an extra brain. The role has changed from “support” to a fully-fledged business partner role that is respected as part of the management team.
As highly visible role players in the organisation we need to be aware of our brands and how this impacts not only our earning potential but also our impact on the image of the company and our boss’ reputation.
The modern assistant needs to be resilient, organised and motivated and this workshop will provide you the springboard to take on your role with more confidence.
