MCQUEEN PROJECT

Designer Project - Alexander McQueen

We are looking for new design geniuses that can produce one innovative, creative, cutting edge or couture garment. The Fashion Designers’ & Craft Makers’ Young Designer Project is aimed at creative and talented young people that would like to work on a fashion project or produce a fashion portfolio. Designers can also show the finished project in our forth coming presentation taking place London or New York.

Young fashion designers between ages 9-25 years that wish to take part have to produce written personal profile/essay of 500 words, a story board or mood board and have make one couture garment.

To take part young designers should send an email to: youngdesignerawards@hotmail.com to request a booking form; designers MUST state their age and a little bit of info about themselves with images and past work; then write ‘FDC Young Designer Project UK or USA' in the subject line.

More information:

FDC Young Designer Project was founded by London based Knitwear Designer Joanna Marcella. The aim is to increase the number and visibility of young and exceptionally gifted multi-cultural designers; to encourage them to reach their true potential and become as high profile as designers like: Marc Jacobs, Vivienne Westwood or Alexander McQueen.

The Brief:

The brief is to design a cutting edge, couture garment based on the life of ‘British Fashion Designer Alexander McQueen. A full briefing will be given.

Alexander McQueen: The visionary

McQueen produced some the greatest shows in fashion history: McQueen has created Perspex catwalks showered with rain and others that burst into flames; and he has required models to skate around a larger-than-life-size snowstorm or stalk the world's most glamorous padded cell. With this project we expect designers to think outside of the box. Our team will be able to give some support if needed.

Young designers under 18 years must have parent’s permission.

We have four events planned one in London and New York City and two other cities yet to be confirmed.

Young designers that take part in this project must be willing to produce an avant-garde design inspired by the iconic designer Alexander McQueen (this means the man himself with all of his complexities not his designs)
