Angels of History is returning with a series of four online sessions designed to help you engage in courageous conversations about what it means to be Jewish today.
Across the series, the same group will gather online to discuss, reflect, learn, and openly share about contemporary Jewish identity and collective experiences.
Session Dates
Wednesday 14th May - Wednesday 4th June 2025
Sessions run weekly on Wednesdays from 6.30pm to 8.30pm for 4 weeks (online).
“I joined Angles for the opportunity for in depth exploration with a cross section of Jewish people of what we have been going through especially over the last 14 months. I wasn't expecting it to be as therapeutic as it is; I found that helpful.” Previous Angels participant
What will we do?
Guided by professional facilitators, this series fosters connection, deep listening, empathy, and compassionate communication. Together, we'll thoughtfully explore challenging topics such as the current war in Israel/Palestine and antisemitism, cultivating an environment of understanding and respect.
Each session centres around a theme which will connect across the series. You'll come away equipped with fresh perspectives and new ways to engage in dialogue with your family, friends and those around you. We also have an emphasis on Jewish joy and see this as an essential way to approach complexity.
Accross the series we will:
Listen and share - We will gather together and hear each other’s personal stories and reflections in an open and non-judgmental way, supported by experienced facilitators.
Use exercises and tools - We also will offer simple exercises and offer some tools to support you to have better conversations and feel more confident in your interactions with others when it comes to how you express yourself and your Jewishness.
Who are the facilitators?
Sessions are led by Alex Eisenberg, Daniel Eisenberg and Lea Misan. They are accredited facilitators and psychotherapists and they all bring thier own lived experience of Jewishness to the table. They have been collectively developing and facilitating groups for many years and offer experience and guidance for the group.
How many people will attend?
Each cohort is between 6-8 people and we really encourage you to join for the whole block as this is important for the cohesion and growth of the group.
How long is each session?
Each session is 2 hours with at least one break. There will be a mix of time for sharing and for listening to each other in both the full group and smaller breakouts.
Angels of History takes place online using Zoom.

Who is this for?
We welcome people with the full diversity of Jewish backgrounds and identities. We also welcome people who self-select as Jews or those with Jewish ancestry.
We run our groups with an awareness of the different histories of Askenazi and Sephardi Jews and have lived experience of both groups in the team.
Safety and Care
It is critical to our work that we create a safe space for different Jewish perspectives to be expressed and heard. We want our sessions to be spaces where people can communicate courageously from different perspectives.
- We welcome people from across the political and religious spectrum and are keen to welcome a range of views and perspectives into our sessions.
- Respect and safety are non-negotiable in this space. Language that undermines those values – including anything racist, dehumanising, or violent – is not accepted.
- We aim to actively foster an environment of mutual trust, care and safety in the group. As part of our work together we will support a shared understanding of what this means.
How much does it cost?
We believe in making our sessions accessible to everyone, regardless of financial circumstances. That’s why we’re offering a sliding pay scale.
Sliding Scale Options:
Supporter: £165 – Helps cover your participation and one other person
Sustainer: £100 – Covers your participation
Community: £50 – For those needing some financial support
No one will be turned away for lack of funds. If you’re unable to pay the minimum but would like to attend, just drop us a message—we’re happy to have you with us.
Angels of History is a non profit initiative under the auspices of Act for Change and all the fees go into covering costs and support our future work.
“All together it felt very valuable and I am eager to go further with it.”

Accessibility and Belonging
We want to ensure that our sessions are fully accessible and inclusive. If you have any access needs or need any adaptations please do let us know when you sign up or contact us at any time.
Principles of Participation
We ask all participants to agree to a shared set of principles which we will send you in advance which support a caring environment for our work together. These principles ensure that everyone is treated with respect, and the space remains supportive, open, and constructive.
The background to Angels of History
Angels of History has been running as a voluntary initiative since 2018 and so far we have had over 100 people attend our sessions and events. It was set up by Alex Eisenberg, Daniel Eisenberg and Lea Misan.
We are facilitators and psychotherapists and we all bring our own lived experience of Jewishness to the table.
Our work is trauma informed and grounded in a deep understanding of the impact of our varied histories as Jews on how we feel in the present.
“Angels of History connected me up with my Jewish brethren and somehow answered some of my inner heart's yearning about the emotional angst we all feel, in a warm and positive way.”

Frequently asked questions
We ask that you make every effort to attend all four sessions. Each session builds on the last, and missing one can disrupt the group’s continuity and your own learning process.
You are free to leave the series at any time if it no longer feels right for you. We encourage you to discuss this privately with one of the facilitators, outside of the group sessions, so we can understand and support your decision.
If you decide to leave the series after the first session, we are able to offer a refund. However, we’re not able to offer refunds beyond that point. This policy helps us maintain consistency in the group and plan effectively.
Confidentiality is a cornerstone of the Courageous Conversations series. Participants agree to a shared set of principles, including respecting the privacy of others’ personal stories and experiences. While general insights and learnings may be carried forward, participants are expected not to share
No, the sessions will not be recorded. Angels of History prioritises creating a safe and confidential space where participants can share openly. The absence of recordings helps maintain the integrity of this environment and encourages authentic expression.

These conversations can be emotionally stirring and may require a degree of aftercare. If a participant feels overwhelmed or vulnerable, one of the facilitators will offer one-to-one support between sessions to provide care and continuity.
That’s absolutely fine. These sessions are not about having the “right” answers or being an expert. They’re about exploring, listening, questioning, and reflecting. Curiosity, openness, and a willingness to engage are what matter most.
These sessions are open to anyone exploring their Jewish identity—whether you feel firmly rooted in Jewish community or are more on the edges; whether you’re engaged with religious practice, culture, heritage, or political questions. We welcome people across different backgrounds, affiliations, and
