Hobbs will explain Plato's famous argument on the ideal form of government and give her take on how he might have reacted to our modern version of democracy. Angie Hobbs is Professor of the Public Understanding of Philosophy at the University of Sheffield and is a frequent expert contributor to programs on philosophy and ethics, including Timewatch, Radio 4's In Our Time, Newsnight and author of the recently published Plato's Republic: a Ladybird Expert Book.

These events, including lectures, roundtable discussions and seminars with leading experts, aim to bring outside perspectives to bear on some of the toughest challenges faced by government today.
