Ann Clarkson's Blue Plaque Unveiling
Date and time
Forgotten Women of Wakefield & Wakefield Civic Society invites you to Ann Clarkson's Blue Plaque Unveiling
About this event
You are invited by Dream Time Creative and Wakefield Civic Society to join us for this very special occasion hosted by ‘The Right Worshipful the Mayor of the City of Wakefield Metropolitan District, Councillor Ms Tracey Austin’ in The Kingswood Suite at Wakefield Town Hall.
'Wakefield’s Ann Clarkson was political. And unashamedly so. With her fierce intellect, hunger for knowledge, formidable memory and propensity towards self-cultured education, when she spoke out against poverty, inequality and animal cruelty she spoke with an authority that came with a sound judgement and commitment to the betterment of herself, and others.'
Learn about Ann's life and her achievements through talks and film and witness the unveiling of a blue plaque to her legacy. Ann will be the 26th woman to be honoured with a blue plaque as part of The Forgotten Women of Wakefield #blueplaqueparity campaign.
Our blue plaques have been achieved by working in conjunction with the Wakefield & Pontefract Civic Societies as well as Normanton Local Councillors which has meant that Dream Time Creative's, 'The Forgotten Women of Wakefield' project has increased the number of blue plaques to women across the Wakefield district to 26.
