Welcome to the Annual Autumn Walk for DSGN! Get ready to stroll through the beautiful Upton Country Park on Sun, Oct 05, 2025 starting at 09:00 AM. Down Syndrome Group Northamptonshire has been supporting families for the past 25 years. We want to create a new INCLUSIVE FOR ALL event, something fun, and something everyone can get involved with. We teamed up with the Northampton Ramblers and have created three distance fun walks mostly on flat terrain so whether you're a seasoned walker, in a wheelchair or pushchair, you can join in and have fun, make friends and enjoy a brisk autumn morning. Please note the 10km walk is not suitable for wheel or pushchairs. 5km, 2.5km and 1km are mostly sold flat ground. There will be a fun day awaiting the finish line, with medals for all as a thank you, fun for kids, local stall holders, music and food. You can raise Money for DSGN through sponsorship, or another charity with a little extra entry fee, we want to support the local community and charities any way we can.

Frequently asked questions

Can I park at the venue?

There are two car parks in Upton by the country park. This will be first come first served and shared with general users. There is parking at Sixfields stadium car park, other car parks are subject to time restrictions so please check the signs as we can take no responsibility for breaches.

How long will the walks take?

The time is down to personal ability. A marshal will walk behind the last person on each distance. Start times are set to allow an average walking pace to be back for the start of the fun day, however this is not a race and there will be plenty of time to have fun.

What facilities are available?

The Elgar centre has toilet facilities, please be mindful of other users and respect the environment. The Lewis Foundation Café within the Elgar centre will be open for drinks and snacks, The Cube Cruiser will be in attendance to purchase hot food. There is a local shop nearby also.

Is the event marshalled?

YES. The ramblers are assisting us in organising routes and marshalling as well as volunteers from DSGN. St Johns ambulance will also be in attendance.

What happens if I need to pull out?

We can where possible change your distance but please be aware of start times. You may wish to defer a place or ask for a refund. As a charity we would ask the entry fee is waivered but please contact us and we can advise from there.

What if I get injured walking?

DSGN takes no responsibility for injuries. All participants are encouraged to join a group warm up. We do not advise walking with existing injuries and this is a personal choice but MUST be declared at registration. All adults are responsible for their welfare, SEND and child walkers in their care.

What if it rains?

In the event of rain, bring a brolly, wear a rain jacket and appropriate footwear and be prepared to have fun splashing in puddles!

Is the event insured?

We have full insurance as appropriate with the event as do businesses taking part and the Elgar centre.

Can I bring my dog?

Friendly dogs are welcome, but please keep all dogs on short leads strictly. Some paths will be narrow and busy with walker. Owners will be responsible for any trips or injuries/incidents. We want everyone to feel comfortable ad that includes you.

Are routes wheelchair or pushchair friendly?

Shorter routes 2.5km and 1km are ideal. 5km is also possible but 10km is not recommended due to grassy terrain and some steps both up and down.

Are there rest stations?

For the 10km walk there will be a water station at 5km. The 1km route has regular benches. Other routes are subject to further checks.
