Event description

Description

Following last year’s highly successful Inaugural conference, we are pleased to announce the second annual Education & Pedagogy Conference for the Faculty of Social Sciences and Law.

Our broad theme, ‘Evolution or Revolution? Teaching in Uncertain Times’ acknowledges that globally we are living in uncertain times and that our teaching should contribute to preparing students for a future that will be characterised by uncertainty and complexity. Those latter features have their parallels in our teaching; frequently things do not go to plan, intended learning does not emerge, and students do not readily participate or engage, despite our best efforts. We may well sense a disconnect between what the teaching excellence framework promotes and the reality of teaching practice, what we think works, and the pedagogical values that we hold. The aim of this conference is to promote good practice in teaching and inspire pedagogical development through collaborative learning and reflection on our experiences. The intention is to encourage a sense of criticality in these areas as we debate what good teaching practice looks like and the uncertain links with student learning and engagement.

Full or half day attendance is available.
