About this Event

Please note that registering on eventbrite is an expression of interest only. You will be contacted a short time after registering to confirm availability or whether you have been placed on a waitlist.

HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) is delighted to welcome public users and their representatives to attend our headquarters for an opportunity to view and understand changes that are being made to our courts and tribunals system under the ambitious £1bn Reform Programme of modernisation.

As the programme nears its halfway point, the title for this year's event is A Future Court and Tribunal Service Built for Users , and will give attendees the opportunity to see and discuss the latest Reform progress from over the past 12 months, and also look further forward to find out what it will look and feel like for them.

The event will take place on Tuesday 5 November 2019 at the Ministry of Justice,102 Petty France, London.

Registration will open at 9:15am and the event will close at 1:30pm.

Taking on board feedback from previous years, the 2019 event will introduce a combination of set piece presentations and more informal market stalls, giving attendees the opportunity to get hands on with even more projects than before, and ask questions of those leading their development.

There will be two sets of presentations during the day. You will be asked to select these when you confirm your registration for the event. Please note that registering on eventbrite is an expression of interest only. You will be contacted a short time after registering to confirm availability or whether you have been placed on a waitlist.

The first set, which will run for 45minutes, will give an overview of each area of the Reform Programme by jurisdiction. Presentations will be led by those responsible for each of these areas and will give attendees the opportunity to see what the process of reform will look like for them. There will also be the chance to ask questions.

Attendees will be able to choose to attend one from the following overviews:

  • Crime reform
  • Civil reform
  • Family reform
  • Tribunal reform

Later in the day, a second set of presentations will also run for 45 minutes, again with the opportunity to ask questions. These focus on several of the themes that we know are among the most important to those who use our services. Attendees can choose to attend one of the following presentations:

  • How will we support users so they can access our services? – led by the HMCTS Head of User Inclusion and Engagement
  • How will we know if reform is successful? – led by the Ministry of Justice's Principle Analyst for the Overarching Evaluation of Reform
  • What will going to court look like in the future? – led by the HMCTS Deputy Director for Change and Innovation

We will be publishing materials from all of these presentations after the event on our GOV.UK pages, giving people the opportunity to interact with content from all of the presentations that they wished to see.

Market stalls showcasing the latest from a number of Reform projects will be available for attendees to visit throughout the day.

Light refreshments will also be available.
