About this Event

The Centre for Environment and Sustainability (CES) is delighted to invite you to join us at the University of Surrey, Guildford, UK for the Annual Roland Clift Lecture which is presented this year by Prof Roland Geyer, known internationally for his work quantifying plastic waste. His work has been picked up by public figures, including David Attenborough, and has opened up public awareness of the global plastics problem – Roland is also our very own Alumnus.

About the Speaker

Roland is Professor at the Bren School of Environmental Science and Management, University of California. Prior to joining the Bren School, he held research positions at the Centre for Environment and Sustainability (CES); the Centre for the Management of Environmental Resources, France and was a consultant in financial risk management in Germany. Roland’s work has won multiple awards, including the International Statistic of the Year 2018 by the Royal Statistical Society, UK, and been featured widely in the media, including the Guardian’s cartoon by Susie Cagle illustrating Roland in his story of where our plastic goes.
