Event description

Description

Royal Porcelain Works are delighted to introduce One-Day Antenatal Classes for expectant parents.

Fun and practical sessions to give parents-to-be a chance to explore in a safe environment, aspects of childbirth - how does the baby help itself to “get out”; what positions are best for labour; do breathing techniques work; how can I help my body to do this; men’s’ concerns and worries; effective massage and touch; working with the power of contractions; mapping the pelvis ....... and so much more!

A Lunch Picnic Box will be provided for all attendees, provided by the Nest Worcester. It includes a selection of; local cheeses, scotch egg, artisan breads, salads and a soft drink. Once your booking is confirmed, a menu choice will be sent to you ahead of the class, so you can make your food and drink selections and detail any dietary requirements. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten and dairy free options will be available.

The sessions are conducted by Anne Bradshaw PGCE Higher Ed, B.Sc(Hons) Healthcare, Dip Ed Antenatal Education, and registered with FEDANT (The Federation of Antenatal Educators)

Anne has taught over 4500 parents over the past 25 years for the NHS, NCT and privately, as well as many midwives and student midwives as an Associate Midwifery Lecturer teaching Active Birth and Leading Antenatal Classes. She is passionate about birth, and about babies. Anne is also a Massage Therapist specialising in pregnancy massage and stress reduction.

Her passion is teaching simple techniques for coping with the childbirth experience:

"as long as the baby, mother and father are healthy and happy after their experience, then it doesn't matter how the baby is born - but how much easier it is to look after a new baby when there has been little or no intervention, and the birth has been straightforward..... "

Booking is essential via our website. Your ticket is per couple to attend a 5-hour session, on the date you have selected. Spaces are limted to 10 couples per class, so booking early is highly recommended to avoid disappointment.

How much does it cost?

Tickets cost £80 + booking fee = £85.87 per couple. Your ticket is per couple, to attend a 5-hour session, on the date you have selected for the full day and includes lunch, refreshments and biscuits.

What stage of pregnancy is the course suitable for?

Ideally 28/30 weeks onwards.

What do I need to bring?

Who runs the Baby Massage sessions?

The sessions are conducted by Anne Bradshaw B.Sc (Hons), PGCE (HE), Dip HE Antenatal Education, Fellow of the Higher Education Authority. Registered with The Federation of Antenatal Educators.

Anne is a mother and grandmother - and a Bodywork Therapist, with a Level 4 Practitioner Diploma in Holistic Massage with Anatomy, Physiology & Pathology through the Massage Training Institute. She is on the register of the Federation of Holistic Therapists, the Massage Training Institute, and the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council, and holds a DBS Enhanced Certificate (Safeguarding Children). She is also a Hands on Babies qualified Baby Massage & Baby Yoga Instructor.

Locally, Anne is joint Chair of the Midlands Regional Group of the Massage Training Institute, helping to organise workshops and Continuing Professional Development for Massage Therapists.

For over 25 years, Anne taught parents as an Advanced Teacher for National Childbirth Trust, and lectured student midwives at the University of Worcester as an Associate Lecturer. For two years she worked as Parent Education Consultant for the Worcestershire Acute Trust, where part of her work was writing the script for the labour section of the From Bump To Baby dvd published by the NHS & Worcestershire County Council.

Supporting women in labour, and leading sessions for student midwives and midwives on Active Birth led Anne to look more deeply into communicating by touch - and after a lifechanging Bodywork & Massage course with the Bristol College of Bodywork and Massage, Anne decided that helping people feel better from a massage session is where her skills now lie!

Anne does not diagnose illness or disease, or provide or adjust medications, and spinal manipulations are not part of any treatments. It is really important that you let Anne know about any known physical/mental/medical conditions, and keep her informed of any changes. Massage is not a substitute for medical treatment of medications, and you should consult your GP for any medical conditions you or your baby may have.
