About this event

Part 1: Wednesday 28 September 2022 | 4pm - 5.30pm

Part 2: Wednesday 5 October 2022 | 4pm - 5.30pm

This two part course is open to anyone working in Scottish Education, particularly teaching practitioners across all establishments.

This practical course explores ways to adopting an anti-racist approach within the primary classroom. We will explore how the lens of Global Citizenship is key to supporting anti-racist teaching and learning and creating a context which supports every young person to feel represented. While situating our current context within Scottish policy, we will unpack the language of racism and decolonisation, explore good practice and highlight current resources to support our own anti-racist journey as practitioners.

__________

All courses run by the Scottish Development Education Centres are highly interactive, both to model the participatory global citizenship approach, and so we can share activities and methodologies for use in the classroom. This course will make use of breakout rooms and simple digital participation tools (all necessary instructions will be given!). It can be hard to participate fully on a phone or tablet, so we highly recommend you join the course on a desktop or laptop computer, with your microphone and video enabled.

Please note will be held on Zoom to make use of the interactive capabilities of this platform. Depending on your Local Authority, it might be easier to access the course on your own personal computer rather than a council one.

By registering for this course, you are automatically signing up for both parts.

If you have particular access needs, please contact us at carolyn@wosdec.org.uk so we can work together to create as positive an experience for you as we can.

All 32 local authority areas in Scotland are covered by a Development Education Centre – for full details, including locations and how to contact your local DEC, please visit ideas-forum.org.uk/about-us/decs
