About this event

  • Event lasts 3 hours

Join us for a reflective and creative workshop as part of Under the Same Sky – Centrala’s anti-racism campaign rooted in creativity, collective action, and care.

In this session, we’ll use storytelling, symbolism, and visual mapping to explore personal and collective experiences of identity, belonging, migration, and resistance. Through gentle prompts and creative techniques, participants will create their own symbolic “sky maps” – constellations that reflect their journeys, memories, and hopes for the future.

For those who wish to, there will also be an opportunity to record a short story or reflection in your own voice. These recordings may become part of an audio collage shared during our final campaign events, amplifying voices that often go unheard.

This workshop will be facilitated by Magdalena Kij, an artist with activist qualities – an “artivist” from the Polish diaspora. Her interdisciplinary work spans performance, drawing, sculpture, zine-making, banners, and music. She explores themes such as displacement, alienation, and self-determination, while challenging systems of poverty and oppression. As a Community Connector working with Central and Eastern European communities in Manchester, Magdalena creates inclusive spaces for creativity, healing, and connection.

This is a gentle, welcoming session for anyone who wants to reflect, share, and create. No artistic skills or previous experience are needed – just a willingness to engage with your story and the stories of others.

No experience necessary. All materials provided. All ages welcome.
