Event description
Join the panel to discuss how we can actively challenge racism in education to ensure equity for all.

About this event

Join artist, leading educator and author Paul Dash (Chair) and members of the NSEAD Anti-Racist Art Education Action (ARAEA) Group to discuss how we can actively challenge racism in education to ensure equity for all.

The panel will be answering questions such as:

  • What are the lived experiences of global majority educators and children within a racist educational system?
  • As a subject leader for art and design, how can I approach the difficult conversations needed to challenge racism in our subject?
  • How can I start the process of decolonising the art curriculum and what might an anti-racist curriculum look like?
  • What aspirations exist for anti-racist art education?

Whether you are starting your journey or already committed to anti-racist actions, attending this event will support you to decolonise the curriculum and drive equity in art, craft and design education.

We are delighted that Paul Dash will be reading an excerpt from his new book Foreday Morning: an account of the life of a child of the Windrush Generation. Signed copies of his book, will be available to purchase after the event and there will be a prize draw for one attendee to receive a free copy.

If you have time, you may wish to download the ARAE Checklists and read the Introduction to them
