Antiuniversity : Recycled Rug-making
Date and time
Description
Make a rug from old t-shirts and wool with Brunswick Club studio artist Dawn Giles
We will make t-shirt yarn then learn how to crochet the t-shirt yarn into a hardwearing rug using wool scraps.
Materials will be provided, but as this is a recycling project do bring an old t-shirt and wool if you have them.
Over the past 10 years clothing has become the fastest growing waste stream in the UK, with 235 million items expected to be sent to landfill this spring. But even clothes too damaged to be worn can be recycled as we will show.
You will learn to:
Recycle a t-shirt into a continuous piece of yarn
Basic crochet stitches - chain stitch and single crochet stitch
