Event description
Have you found something in your garden, on the beach or in the mud on Mersea Island? Bring it along to have it identified!

About this Event

Have you found something on Mersea Island that you'd like to know more about? As part of the ongoing CITiZAN project to record, map and monitor the archaeology of Mersea Island we'd like to learn more about the finds that residents have made over the decades.

If you've found some pottery in your garden, a strange bit of metal on the beach or perhaps a coin in a field whilst walking the dog then bring it along to Mersea Island Museum this coming Tuesday between 3:30 and 6:30. Professor Andrew Reynolds of UCL along with CITiZAN Archaeologists Oliver Hutchinson and Lawrence Northall will be on hand to try and identify your object and hopefully tell you when it might have been made.

Please note - this is not a finds amnesty! We won't ask to keep what you might show us and we won't be passing your details on to any other organisations. It's a informal show and tell session for anyone on the island!
