APBC webinar - part of a monthly series designed for the veterinary community.
“30 one minute tips to reduce canine aggression in practice”
Handling aggressive dogs in practice is stressful for all concerned. This talk will start by looking at how to spot the early signs that a dog is feeling worried, enabling staff to take steps to avoid this escalating to more overt threat. It will then discuss a range of small, practical changes practice staff can make in their everyday interactions with their canine patients to reduce the likelihood the dog will feel the need to use defensive aggression towards them.
Stephanie qualified as a veterinary nurse in 1992 and has worked in general, referral and emergency practice. She studied applied animal behaviour at the University of Southampton, graduating in 2004, and started taking behaviour referrals in 2005. She was accepted as a full member of the APBC in 2009 and a CCAB in 2013. She is now a full time freelance behaviour counsellor, lecturer and author specialising in applying the latest canine behaviour knowledge to the everyday role of the GP veterinary nurse.
