Morning & Afternoon Workshops   |   20th October 2015   |   Heathrow, London

A series of half day workshops on Tuesday 20th October, the preceding day to the main Conference.  These workshops are being run in addition to the usual APMP certification courses, thereby offering you a wider choice of formal certification and training.

The workshops are designed to offer formal training which meet the requirements of some of the competencies required to pass the Practitioner certification. This is not the only reason to attend, as the courses are worthwhile learning events in themselves, whether you are considering certification or not.

All workshops include lunch that will be served at 12.30

Executive Summaries   |   9:30am - 12:30pm

Strategic Proposals

Presented by Jon Williams CP  – Strategic Proposals

A powerful Executive Summary is a key element of any good proposal. Using case study material, and drawing on research with buyers, we’ll explore what makes for an effective Executive Summary. We’ll look at its purpose and structure; how and when it should be developed and refined; roles and responsibilities.

As a result, you’ll be able to sharpen the content of future Executive Summaries, and make their development more efficient. Additionally, at the end of the workshop, we will look at the “Executive Summary Development” competency within APMP’s Practitioner certification, and will help those working on their PPAQ to complete the necessary paperwork.

Capture Planning   |   9:30am - 12:30pmShipley

Presented by Cathy Day - Shipley Ltd

Capture Plan Development is the process of managing and engaging in the pre-competition phase in an organised way that is designed to increase win potential. When carried out effectively Winning Price development is carried out first during the pre-competition phase and then re-visited.  Whether or not your organisation does Capture Planning, there are some key principles that should be applied to develop a winning price that is most likely to be acceptable to the customer. This workshop will consider how to apply your existing skills and knowledge in these competencies to engage and manage the process to identify, articulate, and implement winning strategies that are designed to capture a specific business opportunity.

If you are struggling to complete these competencies in your PPAQ, this is a must attend workshop.

Red Team Reviews   |   2pm - 5pm

Strategic Proposals

Presented by Jon Williams – Strategic Proposals

An effective final document review (or ‘red team’) will significantly sharpen your score in the customer’s evaluation. Yet, too often, the review process is overlooked, rushed, or causes last-minute chaos.

In this session, we’ll explore the benefits of an effective review process; we’ll look at who should be involved, and how to manage the review process effectively. We’ll talk about how to share feedback constructively – and we’ll practice reviewing content (as we go, reminding ourselves of some key principles of effective proposal writing).

Additionally, at the end of the workshop, we will look at the “Final Document Review” competency within APMP’s Practitioner certification, and will help those working on their PPAQ to complete the necessary paperwork.

Lunch will be served at 12.30.

Storyboarding   |   2pm - 5pm
Shipley

Presented by Cathy Day - Shipley Ltd

Storyboard Development is the process of developing and planning key messaging, content and graphics for the proposal before writing begins to increase win potential. This workshop is designed to demonstrate that this activity can be very simple, or very complex and is highly tailorable as there are many existing tools and techniques that can help – you are probably already using them.

If you are struggling to complete the Storyboard Development Competency in your PPAQ this is a must attend workshop.

Lunch will be served at 12.30.

Each session will provide you with competency training that has been specifically designed to meet the standards required by APMP for Practitioner Certification. In addition to the 10 CEU credits you will receive for attending the 2  day  conference (optional). Each of these training modules will earn you 3 CEU credits.
