About this event

Apne Film Club in partnership with Saudha will be hosting a screening of Charulata at Leytonstone Library as part of Leytonstone Loves Film.

Synopsis- "The lonely wife of a newspaper editor falls in love with her visiting cousin-in-law, who shares her love for literature."

Chai and Samosas will be flowing from when the doors open at 6pm with Pandit Chiranjeeb Chakraborty performing classical hindustani performance at 6:30 followed by a short talk by poet Ahmed Kaysher on the work of Tagore whose work inspired the film.

Apne Film Club is bringing back the old Asian film clubs of the '60s and '70s by screening classic South Asian films complete with samosas, chai and a sense of community. Talking, laughing, cheering, jeering and tearing is encouraged throughout the film.

ALL WELCOME, ALL AGES (yes babies too!), ALL BACKGROUNDS. A BSL interpreter will be there on the day too!
