OBJECTIVES
Since the Courts Reform (Scotland) Act 2014, we have had, in effect, a new regime of appellate litigation in Scotland, where knowledge of basic rights and procedures is essential for practitioners operating at this level.

SPEAKER
Jon Kiddie, Advocate, Terra Firma Chambers. Jon called to the Bar in 2020 following almost two decades in private practice, latterly as a solicitor advocate.
Much of his solicitor career he spent in law centres, including as Head of Civil Litigation at Legal Services Agency in Glasgow, and as Principal Solicitor at Renfrewshire Law Centre, where he served for eleven years, latterly as a solicitor advocate. His law centre work consisted principally of housing law, landlord/tenant rights, disrepair reparation, mortgage enforcement, employment tribunals and Judicial Review.
He has spoken at numerous conferences and training events, taught at the University of the West of Scotland, taken part in consultations on legislative reform, and had several articles and book reviews published, including in the Journal of the Law Society of Scotland. He has also served as an ad hoc reporter to the Law Society of Scotland. See the link below to view Jon's biography.
