About the event

Loneliness can affect anyone, at any age. It impacts health, wellbeing, and how connected we feel in our communities. As our society becomes more diverse and multi-generational, we need fresh ideas to strengthen relationships and reduce isolation. This year, the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Tackling Loneliness and Connected Communities is focusing on “Loneliness Across the Life Course.” Our first inquiry explores how intergenerational connection can be a powerful way to tackle loneliness — bringing people together, breaking down barriers, and building stronger, more supportive communities.

Why join us? This is your chance to be part of the national conversation on tackling loneliness. By attending you will:

  • Hear insights from MPs, peers, and national leaders on why loneliness matters.
  • Learn about government priorities, with a keynote from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS).
  • See real examples of intergenerational projects making a difference in communities.
  • Take part in an open discussion — sharing your ideas, experiences, and solutions.

Agenda

  1. Welcome and Opening Remarks Paul Davies MP and Lord Shaun Bailey (Co-Chairs)
  2. Framing the Inquiry & Call for Evidence Setting the scene for the year ahead
  3. Keynote Address DCMS perspective on tackling loneliness – Vicky MacCallum, Deputy Director, DCMS
  4. Case Study Intergenerational practice in action
  5. Open Discussion Contributions from MPs, sector leaders, and attendees
  6. Closing Reflections
