Event description

Description

A special chance hear this popular talk by author of the book The Appley Bridge Meteorite, Russell Parry, followed by a Q&A session & book signing.

This is a fascinating insight into the fall and discovery of The Appley Bridge Meteorite in 1914 at Appley Bridge near Wigan, as told through newspaper reports and archive documents of the time. The explosions, the fireball, the confusion with enemy zeppelins, the confiscation of the meteorite by the police, its subsequent release for analysis, and where you can find the meteorite now will all be told, as featured on BBC TV and radio.

Signed copies of the book will be available for purchase, plus you will have the opportunity to see a sample of the Appley Bridge meteorite & plaster cast model.

You will also be able to handle 4,560 million year old meteorites!

This will take place in the Treasure House Theatre at World Museum Liverpool.
