Event Details

Applied Principles of Assessment in Clinical and Healthcare Education (APACHE) is a two-day event delivered by Cardiff University Centre for Medical Education and the Academy of Medical Educators.

Now in its second year, it is for all those interested in monitoring, feeding back and deciding on students' and trainees' educational and personal progress.

The event is aimed at everyone, at all levels of experience, who is involved in healthcare education. It will be of particular use to you if you are interested in sharing the latest theory and practice around:

  • setting standards
  • organising tests
  • interpreting assessment results
  • blueprinting assessments
  • developing programmes of assessment

Keynote speakers:

  • Professor Erik Driessen - Professor in medical education and Chair of the department of Educational Development and Research at the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences of Maastricht University
  • Professor Julian Archer - Chair in Medical Education Research & Director of the Collaboration for the Advancement of Medical Education Research & Assessment (CAMERA), Plymouth University Peninsula Schools of Medicine & Dentistry

The programme will be available very soon. There will be a full day of plenaries and workshops on Tuesday 3 July and the day will conclude with a dinner (included in the registration fee). We very much want the learning to continue in an enjoyable and informal way and registration without dinner is not available. Wednesday will begin with breakfast time sessions and end with a buffet lunch at 1pm. If you would like to book excellent value B&B accommodation at Aberdare Hall for one or two nights, please do so here

Applied Principles of Assessment in Clinical and Healthcare Education (APACHE)' has been approved by the Federation of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom for 9 category 1 (external) CPD credits (code: 116854) . Full conditions of approval are listed in their guidelines
