Course Overview
Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) was developed by LivingWorks Education and licensed by Public Health Scotland. This training is delivered by two licensed instructors from Care and Connect Training Ltd. Training is delivered over two days and is intended to improve your skills and ability to start a conversation with an individual who may be contemplating suicide.
ASIST counts officially towards CPD in Scotland.
Learning Outcomes
You can expect the following outcomes from the two-day course:
- Learn how to recognise when someone may be thinking about suicide.
- Learn how to provide a skilled intervention and develop a safety plan with the person to connect them to further support.
- Consider how personal and community attitudes about suicide affect someone’s openness to seek help and your ability to provide it.
- Increase your willingness, confidence, and capacity to provide suicide first aid.
Who should attend?
Anyone who may encounter situations involving suicide risk in their personal or work lives.
