Overview

Creative textiles workshop to make a square to be included in the memory quilt naming and honouring the children killed in Gaza.

We invite you to join our creative textiles workshop to make a square to be included in the memory quilt naming and honouring the children killed in Gaza. During this workshop you will design and make a decorative square in remembrance of an individual child using the beautiful and versatile techniques of appliqué, fabric collage and embroidery. No previous experience is needed, and all guidance and materials are provided.

Completed squares will be stitched together to create into new panels of the quilt alongside those created by other artists, crafters and creatives from across the UK and internationally.

Workshop will be delivered by Fiona Bailey, Fiona initiated and is the coordinator of the Each Child a Light collaborative remembrance quilt project. She is a Senior Lecturer in Art Education at Middlesex University and has an extensive background in participatory and community-based arts practice, initiating and coordinating numerous creative, collaborative art and social engagement projects.

NOTE: In return for being able to fund our vibrant exhibitions and events, we must charge a ticket price to help offset some of the gallery running and overhead expenses. With a large percentage of our public and private sponsorship eliminated, your gift enables us to continue presenting idea-stimulating art and culture events. Thank you immensely for helping independent not-for-profit art spaces like ours.
