Welcome to the Applying the Child First Framework in youth justice services webinar, a collaboration between the Youth Justice Board and Crest Advisory. Join us online for an overview of Crest Advisory’s new research on how youth justice services across England and Wales are operationalising the Child First framework in practice. The research that will be shared provides detailed insights from children and practitioners and includes recommendations to support more effective implementation of the Child First framework across a range of settings and partnerships.

Webinar overview

During the webinar Crest Advisory will present the key findings and recommendations from our mixed methods research. The aims of the research were:

  • To understand how youth justice services are applying the Child First tenets in day to-day practice.
  • To explore the key barriers and enablers to implementation across different local contexts

The research involved:

  • Surveys with children currently supported by youth justice services.
  • Surveys with youth justice practitioners, managers and statutory partners.
  • Deep dive fieldwork with two youth justice services.
  • Workshops, interviews and focus groups.

We will hold a Q&A session with attendees to answer questions about the research and our findings.
